Summer Fun Day

Trefechan Communities First Partnership held their summer fun day on Thursday 30th July 2009 in Trefechan, with great success with over 140 residents attending the event.

There was a range of free activities for the whole family to enjoy such as bouncy castles, climbing wall, face painting, try your hand at calligraphy, music and magic shows throughout the day.

A range of local community groups, organisations and services were also in attendance and had information stalls on the day to promote and market their services and work to the community. Organisations which attended on the day were the Trefechan Wednesday Club (Health and Fitness Group), Crossroads, Merthyr Valley Homes, Trefechan Community Association, Jobs match, Road Safety Team and Recycling Team from MTCBC, Gofal Cymru, Contact the Elderley, VAMT Volunteering Team, Glamorgan Gates, Safer Merthyr Tydfil and the Community Neighbourhood Policing Team.

“We would like to thank all the organisations and groups who attended the event, and in particular the volunteers who gave up their time to help make the event such a great success. It was a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together and we would like to thank the residents for turning out and supporting the event, despite the rain at the beginning of the funday. If anyone would like to find out more about the work of the Trefechan Communities First Partnership or would like to get involved in future community events, please contact the Communities First Team in Trefechan on 01685 383758. ” Sally Mcintyre Communities First Development Officer
